Discover the career of Lorena Franco, a flamenco dancer known for her flamenco skill, standing ovations and passionate performances at Teatro Flamenco Málaga
A flamenco dancer shaped by training, stage and teaching
Lorena Franco is a flamenco dancer (bailaora) whose artistic journey has been shaped through rigorous training, extensive stage experience and a strong commitment to teaching flamenco. Her story began at an early age and reflects dedication, discipline and a solid presence within today’s Spanish flamenco scene.
Early steps in flamenco
Lorena Franco was born in Córdoba, a city with a rich flamenco heritage, and began dancing at the age of five at the Nieves Camacho dance academy, where she took her first steps in movement and artistic expression.
She later trained at the flamenco studio of Encarna López and Rafael del Pino “Keko”, deepening her knowledge of traditional flamenco and refining her technique.
Alongside this foundation, Lorena expanded her training across different styles of Spanish dance, supported by scholarships and further studies that led her to hone her skills in Seville, one of the world’s leading centres for flamenco.
Professional career with Eva Yerbabuena
From 2007 and for more than a decade, Lorena Franco was a member of the prestigious Ballet Flamenco de Eva Yerbabuena, one of the most influential flamenco dance companies in Spain.
During this time, she performed in major productions such as 5 Mujeres 5, A 4 Voces and Santo y Seña, among others, works that combine dance, music and flamenco tradition at the highest level.
Solo collaborations and flamenco tablaos
In addition to her work with the company, Lorena has performed as a soloist in productions such as Rojo Y Rosas and Devoción Y Persuasión: Santas de Zurbarán, the latter produced by Seville City Council and known for its integration of flamenco with visual and cultural elements.
She has also performed in renowned flamenco tablaos, key venues for the transmission of this art form, where dance engages closely with singing (cante) and guitar in a more intimate and powerful setting.
Teaching and transmission of flamenco
Lorena Franco’s commitment to flamenco extends beyond performance. She has worked as a dance teacher in Seville, sharing her knowledge and experience with new generations of dancers.
This educational work reinforces her role in preserving and transmitting flamenco as a living cultural tradition.
A voice from within flamenco
Through appearances in cultural venues such as Teatro Flamenco Sevilla, Lorena has shared her perspective on flamenco as both a technical discipline and a deeply emotional form of expression.
Her artistic style is defined by authenticity, emotional connection and the ability to engage audiences with sincerity and intensity.
