At Teatro Flamenco Málaga we are privileged to have some of the most important flamenco artists performing in our daily, live flamenco show, Essence, amongst them is a flamenco dancer who has achieved international recognition with his talent and passion, Victor Bravo. This talented flamenco dancer combines tradition and innovation to take flamenco dancing to new horizons without losing the essence that makes it unique. 

Victor Bravo: flamenco dancing origins

Victor Bravo was born to be a flamenco dancer. From a young age he showed a natural inclination toward flamenco dance and he began to study flamenco at the Matilde Coral Dance School at the age of four. Victor Bravo was born into a humble family with deep flamenco connections and grew up surrounded by flamenco singing and flamenco dancing that would impact his life.

Studying under Matilde Coral, one of Seville’s most iconic flamenco dancers, was only the start for Victor. At the age of 15 he decided to expand his horizons and he travelled abroad to continue his flamenco dance training and at the same time gain some professional experience on the international flamenco stage. His enthusiasm for learning new techniques and exploring different styles quickly turned him into one of the most exciting young flamenco artists at the time. 

This magnificent flamenco dancer, while in Japan, also worked as a choreographer and director while sharing the stage with flamenco artists such as Israel Galván, Lola Greco, Alejandro Granados and El Torombo, amongst others. 

Victor Bravo: authentic, pure flamenco dancing

Throughout his professional career, Victor Bravo has maintained a clear philosophy: flamenco should always be honest. He defends authentic, pure flamenco in which the balance between technique and emotion is fundamental. The flamenco dancer believes that, although flamenco reinvents itself and evolves over time, it should never lose its pure essence. 

Victor Bravo finds it difficult to choose just one flamenco style as his favourite because each has its own charm and challenges to perform. Depending on the moment, he can be submerged in the drama of a seguiriya or get carried away with the joy of an alegría. What he most values in a performance is the ability to feel, to help the audience to connect with the deepest emotions of the human soul.
